DERMAPLANE DIY

You might think this sounds like an ambitious try, but it’s not as uncommon or strange as you might think. And no, the facial hair won’t grow back thicker and darker.

A few of us have been on the #dermaplane train for some time now (the act of using an exfoliating blade to skim dead skin cells and hair from your face). It’s the professional term for “face shaving”. Most aestheticians offer a dermaplaning service before their treatments. Or you can book an appointment for a straight up #dermaplane only.

The side effect we love most is the exfoliating factor. Shaving is one of the best ways to exfoliate your skin. You’ll see the dead skin come off your face along with the hairs and fuzz. Instant shedding gratification! Coming in as close seconds to exfoliation? The increased effectiveness and penetration of products (i.e. serums, moisturizers, masks, etc.) and smoother looking and feeling skin. You’ll love putting makeup on post #dermaplane, it glides on due to the lack of peach fuzz. And not looking like you have a beard or mustache? We file that under the bonus category.

We tried several different tools, including a generic #Bic disposable razor, the women’s #Tinkle shaver (also disposable) and the #StackedSkincare dermaplaning tool. While the Bic and Tinkle did the job, StackedSkincare’s tool was the clear winner. We weren’t bothered by the higher price point of StackedSkincare’s tool as it’s worth it. It’s the most environmentally friendly option, as it has an aluminum handle (the last you will ever need) and replaceable blades. Each blade is good for 4 face shaves. We loved the weight of it in our hands and the overall quality feel. Check out this small batch, clean, cruelty-free skincare line @StackedSkincare for more information and other fabulous products.
