One of the questions we get asked about consistently is hairdryers, tools and hair products that we swear by. It’s taken us a minute to go through our routines and fine tune what we truly love and what works. It’s finally here! Like everything we post, these are our tried and true products. We use them on the daily or weekly, depending on the regimen. They work for us and we’re hoping that some of them will work for you. There’s nothing like that salon fresh feeling to give you an extra spring to your step. Happy drying, styling and all around feel-good hair!
Drybar Double Shot Blowdry Brush - This is pricey but SO worth it. ALL THREE of us have and love! If you’re going to invest in a blowdry tool- this should be it. It’s a blow dryer and round brush combined, and gives you the result of a gorgeous DIY blowout. It takes me half the time using this tool as it does with a traditional blow dryer and round brush.
OUAI Leave In Conditioner - The smell of this is everything but it’s also a tried and true detangler post shower/bath. Use on damp hair.
Tangle Teezer Brush - Allison originally bought this for her daughter and then influenced Gretchen to buy one as well. If you have hair that easily gets tangled when wet, this is a must try. It gently gets out tangles and doesn’t damage the hair.
Kenra Platinum Blow Dry Spray - Laura was told by Chelsea, our hair stylist, that she should absolutely be using a heat protectant when she blow dries her hair. This one is awesome!
Goop G. Tox Himalayan Salt Scalp Scrub - Gretchen was given this scalp scrub as a gift a few years ago from a close friend. Initially she was skeptical, but because it was recommended from a friend she gave it a go. This scrub is outstanding. Gretchen uses it every other week and uses it just like shampoo. It suds up in your hand and gives your scalp and hair a refreshing cleanse.
Harry Josh Pro Tools Blow-Dryer 2000 - Lindsey initially was influenced to buy this hair dryer years ago. She HIGHLY recommended it and let Gretchen borrow it for a bit. She fell in love and ended up getting one for herself. Yes, it’s pricey, but it’s worth it if you blow dry your hair a lot. The size and weight don’t make your arms get tired and the strength is shocking for such a small dryer.
Aquis Rapid Dry Lisse Hair Towel - Gretchen received this hair towel as a bachelorette gift almost 20 years ago. It truly gets a ton of moisture out of your hair and speeds the drying time up dramatically!
BaBylissPro Porcelain Ceramic 1 1/2 Straight Iron - Gretchen bought this straightener on a whim when her other one died and she couldn’t believe what she had been missing. It heats up quickly and smoothes the hair wonderfully.
It’s a 10 Miracle Leave-In Product - Gretchen has been eyeing this product for a while and finally gave it a try a few months ago. She sprays it on right out of the shower when her hair is wet and only on her ends. It helps to get her tangles out when brushing her wet hair and gives a wonderful smoothness to her ends without weighing her hair down.
Conair One Step Style 3-In-1 Hair Dryer - Gretchen started using this hair dryer brush when she was in high school and needed to shorten her time getting ready in the morning. She still uses it to this day when she doesn’t want the traditional blow out look with a round brush. If she plans to use a straight iron for super straight hair or a curling iron or curling wand, she blow dries her hair (upside down!) completely with this first. It gets the wave and frizz out of her hair making styling very quick and easy!
Triple Sec Texture Spray by Drybar - This is the BEST product when you get a blow out or curl your hair! Allison and Laura spray it on after the blowout or curls are in and it adds texture, volume and helps prolong the look for a day or two after. If Laura has a trip or weekend where her hair needs to look good she always uses this and brings it with her. Add a few sprays each day, flip your head upside down and voila- it adds some life back in just like that!
Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo - Gretchen has tried MANY dry shampoos. They either don’t get the oil out or they smell incredibly strong. This dry shampoo gets the oil out, gives your hair volume and doesn’t have an overwhelming fake, perfume smell. Make sure to spray it on your roots, wait a minute and then massage it into your hair with your fingers.
Remington Pearl Ceramic Curling Wand (1-1.5 inch) - Laura has lots of hair so she was in search of a curling wand with a larger barrel. She loves this one and has used it for a few years now. It gets super hot and curls really well. The larger barrel creates big, loose beach waves that she loves. She heats hers to 360.
UNITE 7 Seconds Leave-IN Conditioner - Laura LOVES this leave in conditioner. Her hair is fine and so gets really tangly after a shower so she puts this on to help before brushing through it. It smells heavenly and really does detangle in about 7 seconds. She also uses it on her daughter’s hair.
Revlon Hair Brush Dryer - Allison loves this tool regardless of the fact that her hair stylists warns about it getting too hot and possibly causing damage. She uses a heat protector product pre-blow dry. It’s super fast and the oval shape creates the perfect bend and volume.
Olaplex Hair Perfector No. 3 - Gretchen has incredibly dry hair and was looking for a treatment that could help. Originally influenced by Serena Wolf, she decided to give this one a try. She shampoos her hair before bed, gets most of the moisture out and then puts this mask on like conditioner. Then, she wraps her hair in a top knot and sleeps in the mask overnight. In the morning, she shampoos and conditions as she normally would and loves how much this product has repaired her ends. She uses it twice a month!
Living Proof Full Shampoo - Gretchen has a thing for big hair. She does not like product that makes it feel heavy or weighed down. This shampoo is perfect!
Living Proof Full Conditioner - Gretchen uses just a bit and only puts this on the bottom half of her hair.
Moroccan Oil - Allison loves using this on damp hair. She feels like it helps to protect her hair well from blow-drying and styling. Plus it has an amazing smell!
Revitalash Cosmetics Volume Enhancing Foam - Gretchen started using this product when hormone imbalances were causing hair loss on her temples. Chelsea, our hair stylist, recommended this product for hair growth. It is pricey, but the whole bottle lasts about a year. It’s a foam that you use as a spot treatment on the areas that may need help with growth. It has been a life saver for Gretchen!
